Asus ZenWatch 2 will go on sale early Q3 2015 as planned: CEO

The Asus ZenWatch 2 was originally planned by the company to go on sale early Q3 of this year. But few weeks ago, there were reports of the company's CEO, Jerry Shen, saying that the smartwatch won't hit the consumer market until 2016. However, Shen, in his new statement, dismissed the old statement, saying that the ZenWatch 2 will be showcased at Computex Taipei, the worlds second-biggest computer trade show scheduled for June 2-6, and will proceed to the consumer market early Q3 2015 as originally planned.

Citing the lower than expected battery life of the ZenWatch 2, Shen said that demands for the smartwatch might not go up as speedily as the company's low-cost ZenFone-range of Smartphones, despite the fact that the smartwatch packs all the features of Android Wear. The company was targeting a 7-day battery life with the ZenWatch 2, but the final product has a battery life less than four days on a single charge, which doesn't meet Shen's expectations. The company expects to ship less than 1 million units of the ZenWatch two this year.
